Precious Words

I call out to the world from depths within me….” You are here; You were born; Your very life will leave an imprint on my soul!”

I hug you in the arms that are now old to you and I whisper softly to God; “Thank you for this precious gift”…. And ever so gently, as I hold you to my heart, I whisper to your soul….. “You have brought amazing love into the dreams of my world”! And days go by ever so swiftly.

In my memories, I hold you to me, looking into your beautiful sparkling eyes and I hear your words echoing to me from days gone by,” Nana I love you to Infinity; I love you to Eternity”! And from the depths of my heart, I realize that even though you do not yet truly understand the magnificence of those words, you created precious memories within my heart.

And my reply calls out to you through my soul…. “My Grandson, I love you to Eternity! I love you to Infinity! I love you to the Stars that shine above me” and I build another memory of you and to hold deep within your heart and mine!

You could never have known at that young age how much those words calmed my heart. You could not know that on the days when life was hard, I would pause and listen for the distant echoes of the memories of those words… and I would smile because in that moment you gave the love I held for you a gentle tug.

You could not know that when I held you in my arms for the first time, I relived your Father’s birth; that he was my gift from God on the day he was born and you were my gift from him on the day you were born.

Like a river flowing into the calm of the lake; so it was on the day you were born…. Love flowed from our hearts to one another, without a thought of where it came from; just a knowing that it would ever would end.

Love does that; a Son does that; A Grandson does that!
