Patients Like Me
Myself, I was one of the early
participants in this patient driven database. At the outset
it was limited to ALS but on the basis of the success it has
extended out to include other diseases. To experience the
evolution of this marvelous innovation has been as inspiring
as it has been for the larger healthcare community. This
presentation by Patients Like Me founder, Jamie Heywood, is
as uplifting and hope giving as anything I have experienced
in my six plus years with my own ALS.

Lowen & Navarro - Learning To
Fall (with The ALS Choir)
This is the title track of our new album, releasing in July 2008.
We recorded this November 10, 2007 with 30 friends, all of whom have
been affected by ALS -- PALS (People With ALS), family members,
friends, caregivers, supporters. ALS is an incurable untreatable
paralyzing neuromuscular disease, also known as Lou Gehrig's
Disease. Eric Lowen was diagnosed with ALS in March, 2004. He is one
of the lucky ones -- he has surpassed the normal 3-5 year life
expectancy most ALS patients face. So he's helping spread awareness
and hope for this devastating incurable degenerative disease. Among
the guests are John Ondrasik of Five For Fighting and his family,
our own families and a number of pro singers from LA who are mutual
friends of Kathryn Skatula, a musician who was also diagnosed with
ALS in April, 2007.

Jean-François Guilbault in memory of his wife who lost the battle to
ALS. The song "You to Me" was written by the band Westlake, inspired by the
strength and courage of thepeople touched
by the disease.
A local Gulf War veteran was diagnosed with
ALS - more commonly refered to as Lou Gehrig's Disease. He was given three years
to live. That was seven years ago.
