My brother, David, is gifted with a healthy dose of humor and wit, probably an inheritance from one of our legendary Labrador uncles-and Newfoundland father. He has the uncanny ability to catch a person off guard at times, something he revels in as he has his laugh.

From time to time David has to travel the province of Newfoundland and Labrador on work related matters, giving him ample opportunity to gather material to use on some unsuspecting characters in his life.

Some time ago he was on a lengthy trip down the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland, an area he loves, having spent part of his childhood there. When he returned, I asked him during a phone call how his trip was. He answered in just one word, "WINDY!"

Falling into his trap, I asked how windy it was for him to comment on it.

"Well," he said, "it was so windy that I was in the community for ten days before the wind died down and I realized that the Canadian flag on the pole outside the school wasn’t made out of plywood! Now, is that wind or what??"

I had to admit, through my laughter that, yes, that was WINDY!

And I became another notch in his belt of humor victims.
